Using the pipeline
Stage 5 — Produce
Work orders, in-house and outsourced production, material consumption at completion, and QC lots.
Work orders
A work order (WO) produces some or all of a confirmed production order. The BOM version is locked at WO creation — editing the BOM mid-production never changes what an existing WO consumes. Production modes: in-house, outsourced, or mixed; outsourced and mixed WOs carry job-work orders to your job workers (embroidery, washing, printing), whose per-unit rates feed product cost.
What completion does
- Consumes the reserved raw materials: both stock and the reservation decrease by BOM quantity × produced quantity.
- Releases the finished-goods commitment made at order approval.
- Does NOT increase finished-goods stock — that happens at release (Stage 6), after QC.
If material stock is somehow below the required consumption (for example after a manual stock adjustment), completion fails with an insufficient-stock error naming the material — fix the stock or the adjustment, then retry.
QC lots
Record inspections against a WO: inspected, passed, and failed counts, defect severities (critical / major / minor), notes, and photos. A lot must be approved before its passed units can ship. Defect classification is deliberately manual — no automated sampling rules.
Cancelling a work order
Cancelling a pending or in-progress WO releases its material reservations. A completed WO cannot be cancelled — its materials are consumed.
